Tamara Sulaiman: “Agile Leadership”
Whenever we begin an effort to transition teams to Agile methods and practices, we are introducing significant change into an organization. These changes often have unexpected ripple effects beyond the development teams; making these changes that much more difficult to sustain. How can Agile leaders successfully move through the pain to the gain? John P. Kotter has identified eight steps for introducing and implementing effective change. We’ll be talking about how these eight steps can translate into tangible action items for Agile leaders, giving examples of key points and suggestions of effective strategies from successful agile adoptions.

Tamara Sulaiman is Managing Consultant at Applied Scrum where she is focused on coaching teams and organizations transitioning to Agile software development. Tamara brings over 20 years of experience in management across a spectrum of industries including: information technology, construction, international development and education to her consulting expertise. She is a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) and Project Management Professional (PMP). Tamara is the co-originator of the AgileEVM materials and processes that integrate the traditional project management practice of Earned Value Management with the Scrum framework. She is currently serving on the Agile Alliance Board of Directors. As a thought leader, Tamara continues to publish articles on Agile related topics in industry publications such as Agile Journal, Methods and Tools, InfoQ, Projects@Work and Gantthead.com. She also shares her experiences, ideas and expertise as a presenter and speaker at conferences.
